Excellent High Quality Product!
this was a really good! Really happy we purchased this.
What I love most is how solid the build feels. It’s made of heavy-duty metal, not that flimsy plastic a lot of kitchen gadgets use. The base has good stability, and the handle action is smooth, even with firmer fruits like oranges or grapefruits.
Cleanup is a breeze too—just rinse the parts under water and it’s good to go. No tiny crevices or complicated pieces.
If you’re looking for a low-tech, high-quality way to get fresh juice fast, this one’s a winner. I didn’t realize how much I’d enjoy using a manual juicer, but now I actually look forward to it.
It is built solid and is ease to clean. The manual is ease to understand. It has some legal stuff at the beginning and after that is the useful information.
Note, you will need to find a container to collect the juice as the fruit is squeezed. I suggest using a clear measuring cup that is short enough to fit under the funnel. that way it is easy to see when it is getting full.
Full disclosure, we purchased this item with our own money.
Looking forward as the weather gets warmer to treat my friends with some homemade lemonade! It’s easy to operate and less mess to clean up afterwards.
2 issues to note
1. despite being heavy, the juicer will tip if you don't hold it down on the bottom or the top of the juicer
2. the way the handle works it is really easy to smash your fingers--you have to be careful and make sure you have your hand operating the lever in the right place so you don't smash fingers.
Otherwise, this juicer is amazing!
The only small gripe is that the though stainless parts sort of lock into the base, it's not a good solid lock that requires repositioning things occasionally. This rig is SO MUCH easier than using a juicer that requires any wrist action other than pulling the lever.
The only reason I dropped a star is the screws keep coming loose. What I did to remedy this was I used blue thread lock on the screws that kept coming loose. After that no more loose screws.
Great if you like cocktails lemon or lime juice.
Having said that, I still love this thing. I love making margaritas with fresh lime juice and used to use a hand juicer. By the time I had enough juice, I didn't have the hand strength left to actually make the drinks. With this thing, not only is it fast and easy, it actually gets more juice out of each lime so I don't have to use as many. I'll do a bag of limes in the morning, easy peasy, and put the juice in the fridge for drink time.
Cleaning is really easy. The bits that get juicy just pop out of the stand and can be washed separately. I tend to get a little juice spray on the stand so I'll just give it a quick rinse and wipe off with a towel. It's very sturdy and will probably be around for my grandchildren to make margaritas, if I ever have any and if there is still citrus that far in the future.
It's really big. Plan for some cupboard or counter space for this thing. It's not ugly so if you're someone who is allowed to keep things on your counter, I'm not, you could just keep it on display and ready for the next party.
Apparently it also juices oranges and grapefruit and such, but who knows.
This squeezer does a great job on lemons and smallish oranges but when you get the big navel oranges they squeeze around the edge of the top pressing cup without getting fully juiced. What to do? Buy smaller oranges or rather than cutting the orange in half you can take a slice out of the middle ~1/3 inch and set it aside press the remaining “not quite half’s” and get about the same amount of juice plus some nice orange slices that can be cut in half and saved as easy to eat tasty treats. As a final note don’t buy a juicer to save money, I figure a gallon of home made OJ cost $20-24 dollars, unless you can get free oranges somewhere…If you want cheap, go to the store, if you want fresh good stuff and possibly with a side order orange slices get one of these things…just be careful to not get bit.
Enter this counter-top squeezer. Wow. This is so quick and easy to use, and it's so efficient! Those lemons and limes don't stand a chance! When I get through with them, they're dry!
It's really nice that the handle goes to the bottom of the stroke and lightly locks there. I let it stay there for three or four seconds until the juice stops dripping. It's very easy to clean and it sits nicely in its own little patch of counter top.
It's quite sturdy. It's well-made. Ergonomic. Efficient. Well worth the price! If you do a lot of squeezing, this squeezer will make you giddy!
Meyer lemons are great, The have an entirely different flavor than typical store bought lemons that I enjoy. The skin is thin enough that juicing comes down to slicing them in half and squeezing. With about ten gallons of fruit in my kitchen I needed another solution.
After much searching I chose this press. It worked out really well. Right now I have about two gallons of lemon juice, with fruit for perhaps one more to go. The CO-Z press is the only way I could have done that.
My only complaint is the base is not large enough. Pressing the fruit can cause it to tip forward. If I put my hand on the top it's not a problem, but it is annoying. For the price, and what I was able to do with it, I still recommend it highly even with my one caveat.
Pros:
QUIET! Love that I can juice early in the morning without the grinding electric sound. Its very easy to use and extracts more juice then the electric one's ever did. The handle glides up and down with ease and very little pressure is needed, unlike the electrics where you need to push down and sometimes move the citus around to get all sides juiced. So much easier to clean as well. Electric juicers kind of dance around my counter so I have to keep a towel under then, they also drip. This manual one doesn't budge. Its also better at keeping seeds and pulp out.
Cons:
While doing a big batch of oranges I didn't lift the handle fully and when I went to remove an orange it slammed down on my finger REALLY hard!! Left a dent and was sore for good amount of time. This could be a very tragic injury if little hands are helping. I now keep one hand on the handle at all times. The only other downside is the two feet at the base are not wide enough or tall enough for a cup to fit under to collect the juice. I use a sandwich tupperware to straddle the feet and its low enough to fit under. If anyone else has a suggestion I'd love to hear it.
Possibly the more expensive version doesn't have the con's I've experienced but my husband and I plan to move in a couple years and most likely wont have fruit bearing trees so its not worth the investment for me at this time. But I do wish I had purchased it much much sooner! I would probably have juiced a lot more.
My only complaint, and this isn't even worth docking a point for, is that the black rubber feet leave marks on my countertop. They come off, but it's a little annoying. Easy to resolve by placing a tray under it.
I bought this after a long search for a juicer for citrus fruits, because I was sick of using a stationary hand juicer for so much work and mess, and so little yield. Unlike an electric juicer, there's no motor in these to risk burning out, and all the reviews, for general juicing and citrus juicing alike, talked about what a pain they were to clean.
Several months in, this purchase is absolutely well worth it. It makes juicing any citrus fruit a breeze, and now I can make so much juice that I just freeze the excess for my convenience.
I've juiced oranges, blood oranges, lemons, and limes, and this tends to work a little easier with large citrus fruits, because of how the pressing part and the metal grate against which the fruit is pressed are shaped. I find that the squeezed halves of limes, the smallest citrus fruit I've pressed with this, sometimes need to be taken out, put back in sideways (one wide peel side down, other wide peel side facing up) and pressed again to get the most juice.
The strainer will also need to be stirred, gently agitated with a spoon or other implement, or cleaned every so often when you're juicing large quantities of citrus.
Make sure to have a suitable vessel under the strainer - I found a two-cup wide mouth Ball mason jar to be the perfect height for this.
Before using this, clean it! There appears to be some manner of lubricant or other substance on it, including the pressing component that will touch the fruit skin. However, it's easy to clean with a warm, wet cloth or paper towel and a little soap, which can then be cleaned off easily. The funnel and grate also come out of the press, which helps both cleaning and storage.
You may want to use an Allen key/hex key to re-tighten some components as time goes by, as the amount of force inevitably slightly loosens things.
This is mostly well weighted, as it should be for its size, but be wary of the press rocking as you bring the handle down. Additionally, the handle may fall from its own weight if you leave it in the upright position - be careful when you are close to it.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I use it every week and enjoy fresh or frozen home-squeezed citrus juice whenever I please.
We tested it and it was easy to use, my 78 year old mother with arthritis was able to pull down the lever to use as well. I was going to buy her an electric one, where she would have to hold the half-citrus against a rotating cone to ream out the juice. Reviews said that would be tedious on her arms, so we opted for this well-reviewed one. I am very happy with the purchase. No directions came in the box, but we knew what to do. Have only used it on medium sized oranges and on large lemons, and it was great. Very satisfying to see the near-dry empty peels after extracting. I feel we will waste much less now. and can juice up lemons (for example) and just freeze the juice in baggies or in ice cube trays for future use. Lemons last less than a week on the counter, so now I will just extract them right away, rather than waiting until they turn brown and feel the need to DO something with them asap. Hope this helps! : )
